Knitting, Crocheting and Sewing UPDATES

Good news! Sewing, knitting, crochet and quilts do not need samples attached this year as we realize that many exhibitors will have trouble finding samples for all the great entries they have collected over the last few years. This means that our usual rule that items be made within the last 2 or 3 years does not apply either. We hope this makes your preparation to the fair easier.

Youth and Special Needs Fair UPDATE

As promised on the July 2020 Blog, all items previously posted will be accepted if they are already made. It is possible that some of the items will be deleted from the official 2022 list, however if you have already made them in anticipation of the fair, we will definitely accept them. We hope that by posting this list back in 2020 we were able to help you and your family during the lock down. For your reference here are the lists from 2020 Youth Fair and Special Needs.

The 2022 Fair is a GO!

The 2022 Fair is a GO! We are very excited about putting together a fair this year. Naturally we will be taking Covid-19 into account, and the fair won’t look the same as past years. However we want to plan lots of safe fun events for Labour Day Weekend. There are so many jobs that we will need new volunteers to help us with. Becoming involved in the Agricultural Society gives you a chance to use your talents to benefit the community. This is an opportunity for you to meet like minded people. It’s a fun easy way to enjoy the fair while making a difference. An Agricultural Fair is only as good as its volunteers and members. As with any non-profit organization, the volunteers are the heart of the organization. There are many ways you can be involved ranging from a few hours a year to a few hours a month.
o Gardening
o Working with vendors
o Homecraft committee
o Meals in the kitchen
o Ambassador program
o Social Media
o Fair registration
o Livestock committees
o Fair planning
o Agricultural Awareness program
o Set up and take down
I’ve attached a membership application form and would encourage you to consider membership. http://oaseventcentre.ca/society-10/member-applications

Press Release

To our Valued Community, Supporters, Members and Friends,

Over the past year, we have all experienced challenges, and difficult times. We have also learned to appreciate the things we once took for granted. Our safety and the safety of our community has become more important than ever. COVID has changed the world as we knew it and we have all made changes to adapt to the “new norm”.
It is with mixed emotions that we inform you of the cancellation of our 2021 (167th) Agricultural Fall Fair which was to be held this coming September 3 – 5, 2021.
This decision was not an easy one however, we feel strongly that we have made the right choice for our community, our friends, and families. The health and safety of all of you is, and always will be our top priority. While things could look very different in the fall, and hopefully be turning around, it is too difficult to book, plan and fundraise for an event that remains uncertain.
As this will be our second consecutive fair cancellation, we are hoping that we can count
on your support so that we can come back in 2022 with the best fair this amazing
community we live in has ever seen!
To all our fair partners and families that hope to proceed for 2021, we wish you the utmost success, and we will be watching and supporting you as we plan our return in 2022.
